I’ve never seen a Tabla drum.
In all my years of being a percussionist, I’ve never had the opportunity to play the Tabla drum, in fact I have actually never had an opportunity to see a Tabla drum. Strange as it may sound, even with all of my percussion friends and drummer buddies, none of us has actually had a singular opportunity to do so. Oddly, the Tabla drum actually consists of two separate drums, a bigger one for bass, and a smaller one for the high pitches. I’ve been told that the major difference between this drum and others is that this style of play is far more complex and difficult to master than that of those of the conga or bongos.
