Some of those who have an interest in classical music find themselves put off by the environment in which it’s typically performed. The dress codes, expensive tickets and oftentimes rather exclusive venues can make many people feel out of place and, unfortunately, this can sometimes separate them from some of the world’s greatest music.The Albany Symphony Orchestra prides itself on making an effort to reach out to those who may have an interest but have never felt the opportunity was there for them to indulge it. This is no “beginner” level orchestra, however. The Albany Symphony Orchestra is professional, through and through, and performs an ambitious selection of music that would test the abilities of any performer.Their selections range from the established orchestral classical pieces with which most people are familiar to innovative, modern pieces. Many of their modern pieces are the works of both well-known and up and coming American composers and the orchestra makes a concentrated effort to increase the awareness and appreciation of new orchestral music.
