I am often asked the infamous question from someone looking to buy one of my hunting dogs; can a hunting dog be a family dog too? My answer is simple….absolutely. Just because a breed is label “hunting dog” doesn’t mean that you have to keep in out in the garage in a crate and only take it out when you are training or hunting. I have three dogs are fall under the category of hunting dog, and they sleep in my kid’s rooms and my room. They actually spend more time in the house sleeping on the couch then they spend outside. You definitely shouldn’t judge a dog by the “category” they fall under.
