Lighting comes in a wide variety of styles for various functions. Lighting is used in many different way, some being very plain and practical, while some designs have been created into pieces of art. For contemporary lighting almost any material can be used, as long as it can tolerate the heat and is in keeping with safety codes.

One method of lighting is accent lighting which is mainly decorative, but can be use to highlight pictures, ornaments or pieces of interest.  This can be created by a mixture of spotlights, downlights or table lamps. With the latter, use opaque shades that direct light down and prevent it spilling out.
